These shores are not visited often. Old stories of ghostly appearances and unexplained sightings float like the scent of salt in the wind in the alleys and pubs of the nearest town. The black sand and a thick blanket of fog makes this beach feel like a place out of space and time. Even locals say they haven't seen any birds around here ever.
Edward had gone there to find some inspiration, some ideas for his next novel. That evening, he was just taking a stroll along the shore. It was quite breezy, chilly winds fluttering through his jacket and hair. A strange rock jutted out of the sand, which made a good vantage point to look far out into the sea, Edward thought.
It was there, as he stood on the edge, eyes closed, only the sound of waves and the wind brushing against his ears, he felt...uneasy...as if someone or something...was watching him. He opened his eyes slowly....and there in front of him...he saw them.
